Squareball iPhone app Review

Description:

In the Squareball iPhone app you will be able to play in an action arcade game and play it using the intuitively designed controls.   The main point of the game is for you to try and collect all of the green blocks that are located around the stages. As you collect them and the other colored blocks you can increase your score.

Features:

• This really is the first action arcade game to come out on the iPhone that has been any good.  You will see that it has some true arcade action and it is all at 6ofps
• The controls in this app are also really great because they are so intuitive.  You will see that they have been intuitively designed and work just perfectly for this type of game
• The gameplay in this game is nothing to get all excited about but it is very simple which makes it easy for anyone to just pick it up and play.  Also, because of how easy it is you will find that it is very addictive
• The graphics in this game will really bring you back to the old days when you used to go visit the arcade.  They are completely retro.  This theme carries over into both the sound effects as well as the musical soundtrack for the game
• This app also has quite the variety of different levels and stages for you to play on.  There are over 20 different stages that you can play that are located in 5 different worlds.  And this is just the first adventure, there will be many more to come in the future
• On top of there being so many new worlds and stages for you to try and conquer you will love the fact that each of the worlds are very unique.  There will be original and exciting challenges that you will have to face in each of the 5 locations as you try to progress through the rest of the game

Conclusion:

You can never go wrong with a little action arcade game in  your app library.  That is exactly what Squareball offers and it seems to deliver pretty well.  The only gripes about the app are that although it is definitely retro themed, the graphics are really plain.  They could have done a little bit more to spice it up and give it a little more modern makeover so that it would appeal to more gamers in this day and age.

PBA Bowling 2 iPhone app Review

Description:

In the PBA Bowling 2 iPhone app you will be able to play as the best recognized players in the league in some of the most well known locations on the tour.  You can play against the computer or you can just play against your friends.  There are online leaderboards and some customization options as well.

Features:

• Probably the single coolest thing about this app is that there are online leader boards that you can check out to see who the best virtual bowlers are in the world
• You will also be able to track all of the different stats and scoring that goes on in the tournaments.  This is great because you can see who the best bowlers are in the virtual league
• One of the other fun perks in the game is that you can actually customize the bowling ball so that it has your desired weight, the kinds of textures that you want on it as well as the graphics and special effects
• In this game you have the option of using either the accelerometer or you can use the touch screen controls to send the ball careening down the lane towards the pins
• There are also a few different game modes that you can try out.  There is the single player mode as well as a tournament mode to play in.  Last of all there is the spare challenge mode
• There are a bunch of different locations that are featured on the Lumber Liquidator PBA Tour.  These include places like Reno, Indianapolis, Las Vegas, Tokyo, and even Detroit
• There are a bunch of different lane types that can be picked from.  You can play on the shark, chameleon, cheetah, viper, and also the scorpion lanes
• As you play in the game you can actually unlock a bunch of different special effects.  You can also unlock different patterns and bowling ball textures as well
• If you want you can look and see what kinds of oil patterns are on the lane so you better know how to approach the lane
• There are also a couple different difficulty levels you can pick from including the easy, medium and hard difficulties
• The graphics in this game are actually pretty amazing and on the cutting edge of technology.  The menus are also very dynamic
• The bowling alley is completely in 3D and you will be able to see how many pins were knocked down as well as the frame number that you are on
• You can also slide in and out of the scoreboard so that it is there when you need it but doesn’t get in the way when you don’t need to look at it

Conclusion:

This app will appeal to bowling lovers because it has been given a rating of 3 1/2 out of 5 stars.  You can also download this onto your iPhone for only $0.99.

iBasketball iPhone app Review

Description:

In the iBasketball iPhone app you will be able to get out on the street courts and polish up your game.  See if you can get a perfect swish, and see if you can go up against other online players and beat them out in a game of horse.  This is a fun game that you can play in real time and use real shooting motions to get the ball into the net.

Features:

• As with all of these games from this same developer, you are going to get a good mix of action using the built in accelerometer.  This is a great way to get the most out of your games and make them interesting
• All you have to do is just swing your little iPhone around and watch the basketball fly through the air
• The shooting physics in the game are very realistic and very accurate.  You will be able to see how the half court shot works and even control the distance of your shot.  As well as controlling the distance you will also be able to mess with the angle of the shot and how you want to use the backboard in case it is a really difficult shot to hit
• The environment you will be in will be based around a street court.  It helps you to feel like you are a real baller and you are out with your boys playing some ball
• There are also a variety of different multiplayer options that you can take advantage of in order to make your gaming experience a bit more enjoyable.  You can get online and have some timed shootouts where you will have to be super quick as well as extremely accurate
• You can also play in an online game of Horse with other opponents where you will have to come up with some difficult and creative shots that will oust the people you are playing against
• There are also leader boards at the national level that you can get online and check and see where your own high scores are and how they match against the other best players in the world
• There is a localized game play option where you can actually play against people who are all over the world in a bunch of different regions.  This allows for some great replay value

Conclusion:

This is a fun accelerometer based basketball game for the iPhone.  Although the graphics aren’t the sharpest, it is in 3D and it does respond pretty well.  Overall a pretty fun little game to keep you busy.

iBowl iPhone app Review

Description:

The iBowl iPhone app is one of the best 3D bowling games that is out for the iPhone.  It completely utilizes the accelerometer so you will be able to pretend like your phone is the bowling ball itself.  You can play in a bunch of different multiplayer modes online with different people or you can even join tournaments.  You can also challenge friends to some fun competition.

Features:

• This is a fun little bowling game on the iPhone that does a good job of utilizing the accelerometer that is built into the phone.  You will be able to just swing the device as if you are throwing a real bowling ball and watch it hit the pins
• This game even has the bowling physics that were created by Tenpin bowling.  If you curve the ball while you are swinging the phone then it will also curve into the pins to give you the best results that are possible
• You also have a choice between three different lanes so you can decide where you want to throw your bowling ball
• There is also a pretty fun multiplayer mode that you can play in as well.  Get online and you can play with 1 to 4 players in multiplayer games
• You can also join large tournaments online that can have up to seven different people playing in it.  This way you can prove your bowling dominance
• You can also compete against your own friends.  You can start a lobby of your own or you can just get online over the network or the wi-fi to play against long distance opponents
• Use the Facebook Connect feature to be able to start challenging your friends and family over social networking sites.  They can start the challenge match by simply pressing a single button
• You can also check your high score against that of other players by getting online and checking out the rankings that are on the national leader boards
• If you prefer the offline modes then you can still earn a bunch of different trophies from stellar play
• Once you get these trophies and achievements then you can rub it in the faces of all of your friends by getting on your own trophy screen and then issuing out a challenge to them

Description:

In the Crack the Code Free iPhone app you will have to see if you have what it takes to crack the secret code that has been challenged to you by the computer.  You will have to see if you can unlock the secret before you run out of guesses.  This is one of the best codebreaker apps out for the mobile market, especially the iPhone.  Pretty much your phone will pick a unique sequence of colored dots and you will have to  try and find out the exact order of the sequence before your guesses run out.

Features:

• Even though this is a free game to download onto your iPhone, it still does a great job of delivering some great graphics that you will enjoy looking at while you are playing the game
• One of the other great features about the game is that it has some incredible background music.  Add to that a good mix of exciting sound effects and you have yourself a fun little game to play over and over again
• The game also can be customized and personalized a bit.  For one, you can actually go into the settings tab and toggle through the different difficulty settings to find one that matches your skill set
• You can also use a few different modes in case you are colorblind.  In the letters mode you won’t have to worry about being able to see the different colors because they will be letters instead
• One of the other great things about the game is that it has an automatic save function so that if you get off your phone for an important phone call or text, you can immediately get back on and start playing from where you left off

Conclusion:

The Crack the Code game is a pretty simple game with a simple job.  It actually is a pretty fun little game and can be pretty addicting to play.  You will find yourself spending more time on this game the you would think.  It is also kind of cool that they offer a little mode for anyone that might be colorblind so that they can still play the game as well.  They just use letters instead of colors so that you can still distinguish between the two.
